Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium

Flandrau brings together the University and regional communities to inspire the teaching and learning of science and technology. The science center and planetarium is available by reservation on weekdays for groups of 20 or more. Built to promote public appreciation and understanding of science, it’s your chance to bring your class for a complete, interactive science experience!
Audience: pre K-12
Science Field: Astronomy, Earth Sciences, General Science, Oceanography, Physics
What You Get: An age-appropriate, interactive planetarium show for your pre-kindergarten through high school group, presented by a knowledgeable astronomer. Shows are aligned with state standards. Explore hands-on exhibits representing various sciences. Come see an explosion of amazing specimens from dozens of new mineral localities in China in our “Crystalline Treasures: The Mineral Hertiage of China” exhibit (through January 2014). Explore the geology, biology and ecology of our unique Sky Islands region in “Exploring Sky Islands” (through June, 2012). View the largest scale replica of the Martian surface. Take a self-guided tour of one of the largest mineral collections in the country. Visit our website for the most up-to-date information on our current exhibits.

Tell us how many are in your group (we require one free adult chaperone for every 10 children) and select a 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., or 12:30 p.m. reservation.
Add additional programs or adult chaperones, if you’d like.
Complete the customer and payment information (we require a 50% deposit to confirm reservations) through our secure system. Speed up your confirmation by using a credit card or PO number.
Cost: $5 per child; 1 chaperone required for every 10 children. Teachers and required chaperones; $5 for each additional adult chaperone. Ask about Title 1 discounts.
